DANKA DIMITRIJEVIC
About the artist
Danka Dimitrijević (b. 1979, Kraljevo) is a visual artist based in Belgrade. She received her BFA and MFA in Painting from the Faculty of Fine Arts in Belgrade, where she also earned her PhD in 2012 under the mentorship of Prof. Velizar Krstić. She has held 24 solo exhibitions and participated in numerous group exhibitions in Serbia and internationally. Dimitrijević has taken part in artist residencies and art symposia across Europe, including France, Spain, Belgium, Slovakia, and Slovenia, and has exhibited at international art fairs in Hungary, Germany, and Greece. Her works are included in the collections of Wiener Städtische in Belgrade, the Copelouzos Family Art Museum in Athens, as well as in private collections worldwide. She is a member of ULUS and works as an independent artist.
Danka Dimitrijević’s practice explores the relationship between nature, time, and human responsibility. Through recurring motifs of fragile landscapes and birds, her work reflects on ecological imbalance, vulnerability, and transformation. Positioned between scientific awareness and poetic intuition, her art resists literal narratives, offering instead a contemplative space where beauty and fragility coexist. Dimitrijević’s work invites reflection on humanity’s presence within natural systems and the ethical urgency of the world we inhabit.
