BRANKICA ZILOVIC
About the artist
Brankica Žilović (born 1974 in Serbia) is a distinguished French-Serbian contemporary visual artist and educator based in Paris, widely recognized for her evocative use of textiles as a primary medium for exploring memory and identity. After graduating from the Faculty of Fine Arts in Belgrade and the École Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts (ENSBA) in Paris, she developed a unique artistic language that intertwines traditional embroidery and weaving with modern materials like concrete and paper. Her work often takes the form of complex, poetic cartographies and textile installations that question geographical borders, migration, and the collective past, reflecting her own experiences of displacement and resilience. Currently a professor at several prestigious institutions including the École Supérieure des Beaux-Arts d'Angers (TALM) and Parsons Paris, Žilović continues to exhibit internationally, with recent highlights including a solo exhibition at the Villa Médicis in Saint-Maur-des-Fossés in 2025 and ongoing representation by prominent galleries.
